PURPOSE:To obtain a lamp device particularly useful as a vehicle head lamp by dividing a reflector into sections along its optical axis and advancing and retracting moving sections on the optical axis so that both distance illumination and added illumination in front of a vehicle are achieved through a combination with other reflector light projection patterns. CONSTITUTION:With a light switch turned on for high beam, a bulb 4 is made to advance through the action of driving mechanisms 17, 9 until a filament 14 for high beam reaches the focus F1 of an upper reflector 2, and a lower reflector 3 is made to retract until its focus F2 coincides with the focus F1, so that the light from the filament 14 is projected almost horizontally. For low beam, the reflector 2 is retracted until the rear end of a filament 13 for low beam coincides with the focus F1, and the focal position of the reflector 3 is so adjusted that the light is projected a few-second distant ahead of the vehicle as computed based on the vehicle speed at that time, thereby obtaining the low beam light projection pattern. |
