<p>PURPOSE:To industrially and advantageously obtain the subject compound useful as an antilipemic agent by oxidizing a partially new oxo-tetrahydronaphthalene compound, enol type tautomer or salt thereof and, as desired, converting the resultant product into a pharmacologically acceptable salt thereof. CONSTITUTION:An oxo-tetrahydronaphthalene compound expressed by formula I [R<1> and R<2> are alkoxycarbonyl or both are linked to form formula II; either of R<3> and R<4> is H or alkoxy and the other is alkoxy, ring A is (substituted) benzene, provided that the compound is new when ring A is benzene ring substituted by alkylenedioxy and R<1> and R<2> form formula II or either of R<3> and R<4> is H and the other is alkoxy], enol type tautomer or salt thereof is oxidized to afford a naphthalene derivative expressed by formula III or pharmacologically acceptable salt thereof. Three compounds expressed by formula IV (R<5> is OH-protecting group) are reacted and treated with an acid to afford a compound expressed by formula V, which is then treated with an F ion donor to provide the compound expressed by formula I.</p> |
