PURPOSE:To lengthen the life of a cable and prevent the cable from lowering its waterproofing property by cladding a Cu-free Pb alloy foil on both sides of a Cu-containing Pb alloy core. CONSTITUTION:When a Cu-free Pb alloy foil is clad on both sides of a Cu- containing Pb alloy foil core and rolled together, Cu phase is finely dispersed in the Pb matrix of the core and Sn and Sb phase is dispersed in the periphery of Cu phase in the Pb matrix. With this composition, since the Cu phase is dispersed uniformly in grain boundaries and at the same time the Cu is thermally stable, the composite has high crack propagation preventing effect and improved thermal fatigue strength. Since Cu is deteriorated in adhesion by plastics, at least 5mum of a Cu phase-free zone should be formed on both sides of the Cu-containing Pb alloy foil core. For sufficient crack preventing effect, the thickness of the zone is preferably >=15mum. The life of the cable is lengthened due to improvement of waterproofing property owing to crack prevention. |
