PURPOSE:To permit distribution of light from a light source incident from a prism portion in an arbitrary shape independently of the configuration of a reflecting body by annularly forming on the inner surface of the reflecting body the prism portion which is of multi-stage construction and which is roughly triangular in shape in the vertical section of the reflecting body. CONSTITUTION:A reflecting body 12, made from glass, plastics, etc., is formed as a 2-order curved-surface revolution body. Its upper portion is formed into a convex arc-shaped surface 13 which bulges inwards. The outer surface of the reflecting body 12 is evaporation coated with a reflecting mirror surface of aluminum, etc., on which an additional protective layer is formed as needed. A prism section 14 which is triangular-shaped in the vertical section and of multi-stage construction is annularly formed on the inner surface of the convex arc-shaped surface 13. Light from a light source 11, such as a high-brightness discharge lamp, is reflected and emitted by the prism portion 14, independently of the configuration of the reflecting body 12, in a designed direction in relation to vertical direction, and a prescribed light distribution can be obtained. Thus high illumination only directly under the apparatus can be prevented. |
