PURPOSE:To obtain an approximate value which has a small error without using many comparing means by representing the output data of a subtracting means as sign bits of an exponent part and a mantissa part. CONSTITUTION:A comparing means 100, the subtracting means 120, plural storage means 110, 130, and 131, a multiplying means 140, and an adding means 150 are provided, the subtracting means 120 calculates the difference between input data (x) and the value of the data (x) where the curvature of a curve y=f(x) becomes maximum in the form of floating point type data, and the section where the (x) belongs to is represented by using the sign of the mantissa part of the output data and the value of the exponent part. Consequently, many comparing means need not by used and an expressing method like this is used, so the section becomes narrower and narrower in width toward the value of the (x) where the curvature of the curve y=f(x) becomes maximum and the calculation error of output data y=akx+bk approximating the curve found by using pk=ak and qk=bk+akxj is reducible. |
