<p>PURPOSE:To position and connect a joint accurately and easily by disposing a temporary securing ring of an elastic body for temporary securing, which ring expands when inserted and contracts after insertion into a piping, in a groove provided in the inner circumferences at one or both ends of a shape memory alloy pipe. CONSTITUTION:A joint 1 consists of a joint pipe 1 with its inner circumference provided at its end with a groove 2 in which a temporary securing ring 3 made of a material having elasticity capable of expanding in its radial direction is fit. When the joint 1 is fit over a piping 4, the temporary securing ring 3 tightens with its elasticity on the outer circumference of the piping 4 so that the joint 1 is temporarily secured at any required position. When another piping 4' is inserted to butt the piping 4 and heated to a specified temperature, the joint 1 contracts because of memory effect of the shape memory alloy and tightens on the outer circumference of the piping 4 to be connected. If the radial dimension of the temporary securing ring 3 is made smaller than the depth of the groove 2, tightening with the contraction of the joint 1 is not obstructed.</p> |
