<p>PURPOSE:To shorten the time for production of the thin-film two-terminal liquid crystal element and to obtain good liquid crystal oriented films by using the org. films formed of the same material by a vacuum deposition polymn. method for insulators and liquid crystal oriented films. CONSTITUTION:A liquid crystal 11 is grasped between a 1st substrate 1 having the liquid crystal oriented film 6 and the thin-film two-terminal element having a metal-insulator-metal structure and a 2nd substrate 8 having transparent electrodes 4, 10. The insulators 5 and the liquid crystal oriented film 6 are formed of the vapor deposited and polymerized org. films formed of the same material. Since the film formation is executed in the same vacuum vessel, there is substantially no adhesion of dust and since the high polymer is directly polym erized, the stable films having no impurities are formed without allowing solvents to remain at the time of the film formation. The oriented film of the liquid crystal element formed by using the element having such metal-insulator- metal structure is formed with good quality in the shortened time.</p> |
