<p>PURPOSE: To establish a stable braking operation by hindering an actuator means from rotating reversely by means of reengagement of a friction clutch when the fluid pressure is released, and restricting the piston motion related to a calipers housing to the wear adjust position. CONSTITUTION: When a brake pedal is stamped, the liquid pressure in an expansion chamber 36 rises to cause a piston 28 to move in the X-direction, and two pads 20 and 22 are put in frictional engagement with a disc brake 12 through a caliper housing 14, and an elastic washer 75 is compressed so that friction clutch surfaces 83 and 84 are disengaged. If then the liquid pressure is released, the clutch surfaces 83 and 84 are put in engagement again through the action of the washer 75 on an actuator cone 69, and the cone 69 and a nut 66 are hindered from rotating reversely related to an actuator screw 44 for adjusting the amount of pad wear, while the piston 28 is returned to a new wear adjusted position about the caliper housing 14. Thus a stable braking operation is established.</p> |
