S-7428 Disposable catheter insertion apparatus An introducer for a catheter comprises a tubular shield (16) having a distal arm extending axially thereof to which is attached a tube (15) extending proximally into the shield and spaced from the inner wall thereof. The tube (15) is to receive a catheter and the annular space between the tube and the shield receives a protective sheath for the catheter. On insertion of the catheter the sheath emerges through a side opening in the introducer. |
