PURPOSE:To increase a recording speed and to improve image density by increaing the relative speed of a multistylus electrode and an intermediate medium by (n) times as high as a transfer speed, and also increasing the size of the multistylus electrode in the relative moving direction by about (n) times as large as the size of one dot. CONSTITUTION:A multistylus electrode 5 consists of numbers of needlelike electrodes arrayed in the axial direction of a donor roller 1, and a pulsating signal voltage EP is applied to each stylus as one dot. Toner 4 on the roller 1 is inverted in charging polarity selectively according to the application position and period of the voltage EP and charged positively, thereby forming a recording pattern. This pattern is transferred to recording paper 7 by a transfer roller 6. While the transfer speed vD is made constant, the recording speed VT is increased by a factor (n) and the styluses of the electrode 5 are also increased in size by a factor (n) in the recording direction, so that even when the pulse width of the voltage EP is unchanged, image density is increased. |
