PURPOSE:To offer the memo information on a file in response to a request of a main program by preparing a file memo file and obtaining the necessary information to display it on a screen by reference to the file memo file in response to a request of a program which performs the input/output of files. CONSTITUTION:When the input/output of files are required for the started main programs 1a, 1b..., the control is shifted to a file memo control part 3 by the call instructions contained in the main programs. The part 3 inquires whether the memo information is really required or not. If so, the part 3 confirms the presence or absence of a file via a file control file 51. Then the part 3 obtains the necessary information out of a file memo file 52 and saves the screen on a present station 4 to display the obtained information. Thus it is possible to offer the memo information on the files in response to a request of a program which performs the input/output of files.
