PURPOSE:To prevent the mount processing of a drive from being performed repeatedly even if a control program is different and switching is performed by storing a memory with a table which indicates the mount states of respective magnetic disk drives. CONSTITUTION:A program area 4a where a system program or loader is loaded, the mount state table 4b for the drivers, and a drive information table 4c are stored in a RAM 14 used as a work area during the processing of a CPU 2. Consequently, even if the control program is different and switching is caused, the mount processing of a drive is not performed repeatedly, so unnecessary processing at the time of a power source startup can be omitted and the necessary time can be shortened greatly.
