PRODUCTION OF COLOR FILTER

PURPOSE:To eliminate light leakage and to diminish the projections in overlap parts with picture elements by executing the pattern formation to superpose the respective ends of black patterns and picture element patterns and to thin the ends of the 2nd and succeeding patterns. CONSTITUTION:A resist material dispersed with a black pigment (1st pigment) is applied on a transparent substrate 1 and is dried to form a 1st film (black resist film) 8; thereafter, the film is exposed via a photomask and is developed and cured to form the 1st pattern (black pattern) 11. The resist material dis persed with the 2nd pigment is then applied thereon and is dried to form the 2nd film (red resist film) 12. The film is exposed via a photomask 13 for red color installed apart a distance to the coated surface from the coated surface side and is then developed and cured to form the 2nd pattern 14. The same stage is thereafter repeated by as much as the required number of the patterns. The color filters with which a counter short circuit hardly arises is obtd. in this way as there is no light leakage and the projections are small.
