PURPOSE:To stably supply the subject feed containing a factor essential to growth of juvenile fishes and improve efficiency in production thereof by supplying live or dead bacteria capable of producing eicosapentaenoic acid as an organic feed for the juvenile fishes. CONSTITUTION:Bacteria of the genus Pseudomonas, Alteromonas, etc., which are bacteria capable of producing eicosapentaenoic acid are preferably cultured in a liquid culture medium containing a yeast extract, peptone, meat extract, etc., as an N source at 5-30 deg.C and pH7-8 under aerobic conditions for 8-48hr to afford the above-mentioned bacteria in a large amount. The resultant bacteria directly in the form of live bacteria as wet bacterial cells or freeze-dried or dead bacterial cells are added to a growth vessel for Brachionus plicatilis O.F. Muller, etc., which are organisms of a feed for juvenile fishes to afford the objective organism. |
