PURPOSE:To obtain an azeotropic composition useful as a detergent, a solvent, a heat transfer medium, etc., by using a pentafluoropropanol and trichloroethane as the constituents. CONSTITUTION:An azeotropic composition (having an azeotropic point of 67.1 deg.C) useful as a cleaning solvent, etc., consists of 39.7wt.% pentafluoropropanol (A), specifically 2,2,3,3,3-pentafluoropropanol (5-FP having a boiling point of 81 deg.C), and 60.3wt.% trichloroethane (B) (having a boiling point of 74.1 deg.C) and, if necessary, contains a stabilizing agent comprising, e.g. an aliphatic nitro- compound preferably in an amount of about 0.2-5wt.%. This composition has little danger of causing the ozonosphere destruction problem, dissolves flux, oil or fat, grease, paint, printing ink, etc., satisfactorily, while having little corrosiveness to metal, polymeric material, etc., is noncombustible, and is easy to control as the liquid. |
