PURPOSE:To improve the quality of a picture to be displayed and to increase display function by intentionally providing slight dissidence to the time base scale factor of signal compression or the signal distribution between an apodized chirp signal and a kernel for signal compression. CONSTITUTION:When a transmission trigger is inputted from a transmission trigger generator 4 to a distribution signal generator 4 for each fixed period, the dispersion signal generator 3 refers a kernel function from a kernel memory and generates a dispersion signal. For this dispersion signal from the generator 3, power is amplified by a transmission power amplifier 2 and the signal is transmitted as an ultrasonic signal through a transducer 1. A reflected wave is supplied as an electric signal through the transducer 1 to a low noise amplifier 6 for reception and the signal is amplified and supplied to a convolver 7. The convolver 7 executes fold compressing for the input signal from the low noise amplifier 6 for reception and the kernel read from the kernel memory and executes the signal compression. Then, the output of the convolver is applied to a signal processor 8, processed and outputted to a display device. |
