PURPOSE:To perform printing from a correct position without missing characters at the time of the reopening of printing by storing the printing position at the time of the stoppage of printing and printing data left unprinted and reopening printing after the replacement of a multistripe ribbon. CONSTITUTION:When a ribbon end is detected, the remaining quantity of printing data is converted to a printing length by a printing stop judging means 1 and, from the comparison with the remaining length of a ribbon, it is judged whether the remaining printing data is printable. If printable, printing is continued as it is and, if unprintable, printing is stopped and the printing position at the time of the stoppage of printing and the printing data left unprinted are stored in a printing data memory means 2. When the replacement of the ribbon is completed, a printing start control means 3 reopens printing from the stop position on the basis of the memory data of the printing data memory means 2. |
