A set of wheels, intended for a vehicle for transporting heavy loads, particularly a semi-trailer or a trailer, comprises a hydraulic cylinder 24 for maintaining or adjusting height, placed between a swing arm 22 carrying the wheels and an arm 14 which can be secured to the chassis 10. The actual cylinder is connected to the swing arm 22 whilst the piston thereof is connected to the other element, which rotates on the chassis. The piston is provided with a union for connecting to a hydraulic fluid transfer pipe. <IMAGE>
