The invention relates to a removable device making it possible to cut, alone, quickly, and effortlessly, a jammed seat belt. It consists of a casing formed of two parts 1, 2 articulated together, and of a cutting unit moving in an open window on the top of the device. The cutting unit is formed of a pusher 4, of a cutting blade placed in a bevel 6, of two pressure studs 5 for holding the belt during cutting, and of a guide groove 9 placed below the pusher 4. The device clamps the belt, without pinching it, by virtue of felt or rubber strips 8 placed at the top and bottom of the two entry points 17. The device according to the invention is particularly intended for cutting jammed car seat belts. <IMAGE>
