PURPOSE:To obtain a stylus with high reliability, by preventing exfoilation and damage of an electrode and a retrogressing state of the electrode at scanning, through the provision of a surface layer made of a semiconductor diffused with an impurity on a part of the surface layer at the side surface of lengthwise direction of a pillar diamond as the electrode. CONSTITUTION:On the surface layer of a part of the side surface to the lengthwise direction of a diamond body of almost pillar shape, a semiconductor layer 5 is formed by diffusing an impurity such as B, Al and Ga in a value of about 10<18>-10<19> particles/cm<3> of density for B, for example, to form a stylus electrode. Thus, at the mechanical shaping process of the keel of the stylus, the exfoilation and damage of a semiconductor layer 5 is almost zero, and the stylus with high reliability and long life almost without electrode retrogressing phenomenon at video disc scanning can be obtained at good yields. |
