The regulator is of the type articulated on to a lever 1 mounted in suspension on a hydraulic unit 2. It comprises a prestressed spring 3 between two stop elements 4, 5 secured to the spring 3 and the separation of which is fixed by an adjusting and locking handle 6, one 3a of the ends of the spring 3 being articulated to the lever 1 whereas its opposite end 3b is intended to be secured to a suspension element 4 of the vehicle. The stop element opposite the suspension element 7 consists of an end surface 4 of a screw 8 which is engaged in a threaded orifice 10 passing through the lever 1 and shaped to interact, by unidirectional meshing, with an end surface of the locking handle 6. <IMAGE>
