This paint roller is fitted onto a central spindle by means of a bearing comprising an elastically deformable inner ring (race) tightly fitted onto the spindle so as to hold the roller laterally, the outer body of the bearing being rigidly attached to a cylindrical sleeve whose outer surface is provided with a coating allowing a paint to be applied. According to the invention, the roller is supported on the central spindle by means of two separate end pieces 10 which are separated axially, each comprising a flange 11 connected via its peripheral edge 12 to the sleeve and at least one, 10, of which furthermore comprises an axial bush 15 interacting with the flange so that both these elements, once assembled, form an inner cylindrical cage enclosing the elastically deformable ring (race) 18, this cage having, on the inside, two lateral shoulders 19 defining the axial clearance between ring (race) and sleeve. <IMAGE>
