The device is characterised in that it consists of a support having absorbent properties, is neutral towards the essential product and is biodegradable, such as a sheet 9 of an absorbent material, the said support being inserted in a folded form into a hermetic envelope consisting of a sachet 1 whose walls 6 and 6', which are welded together, consist of a complex of a natural polymer or copolymer film, a layer of absorbent material and a coated or treated impermeable polymer or copolymer film, the complex being biodegradable. Preferably, the sachet 1 is welded along its four marginal edges 2, 3, 4 and 5, the edge 3 or 5 being pre-cut 7 to a depth less than the width of the weld, so as to preserve the impermeable properties of the sachet and facilitate opening the latter and subsequently removing the napkin so that it may be used. The device according to the invention is particularly intended for preserving, stabilising and transporting disinfectant napkins (towels). <IMAGE>
