PURPOSE:To obtain an oscillation or an amplified laser beam having an integrally formed single transverse mode by a method wherein a laser beam, which reaches the end surface on the other side of a medium, reaches a second region as well and has a specified optical path length, among laser beams emitted through the end surface on one side of the medium is selectively led out and a resonance optical path is formed only for the laser beam emitted through the second region. CONSTITUTION:First, end surfaces 11b and 13a of a laser medium 10 are respectively adjusted to a surface to intersect orthogonally to reflective surfaces and at the same time, are formed into a rough surface, whereby a laser beam L2, which reaches end surfaces of a glass member 12 and has a specified optical path length, among laser beams, which progress the interior of the slab type laser medium 10 and reach end surfaces 10a and 10b of the medium 10, is selectively led out. On the other hand, a resonance optical path is formed between a light-receiving surface 30a of a reflecting mirror 30 and a light-receiving surface 31a of a partially transmitting mirror 31 for the laser beam L2 only among laser beams L1, L2 and L3 emitted through end surfaces 1a and 1b of a laser medium 1 and after then, the beam L2 is emitted through the mirror 31. As this laser beam L2 only can be oscillated, laser beam L2 having an integrally formed single transverse mode is obtained. |
