The inside surface of a large container or tank is lined with rubber. The tank surface is first coated with adhesive and then a rubber sheet is pressed over the adhesive coated surface by means of a roller. The roller (1) has a cylindrical body which runs on ball bearings (2) with the end walls (3) forming the inner races of the bearings. A handle (6) is attached to a rod (7) which passes through a radial slot (5) in each end wall (3). A spring-loaded brake inside the roller can only be released by exerting a defined min pressure on the handle. This feature ensures that an adequate pressure is exerted on the rubber lining.
