The chain lock for round link chains has a flat link divided into congruent halves which have a rounded area and adjoining arms of which one is cogged on the outside and the other on the inside. The outer cogged arm each has a recess serving to take a spindle-shaped centre piece (19). The axis of symmetry of the recesses and the centre piece (19) runs perpendicularly to the plane (2,3) of the flat member and the cylinder (22) of the centre piece (19) has at both ends a ring flange (23,24) for which cylindrical counter faces are provided in the two recesses (25-28). The locking pin (29) runs at right angles to the plane (2,3) of the flat member. USE/ADVANTAGE - The two halves can be fitted together more easily whereby the chain need not be turned and the reaction forces therefore no longer strain the chain.
