The exchange system has a central coupling network (SN) and a central control (CC) with an interface processor (IP) allowing the coupling network (SN) to be coupled to a speech information sensor (VMS). The stored communication information held in the latter can be edited within a memory unit (MEM) under control of the selection information transfer obtained from the subscriber sets (SLM) and/or the line sets (TM). The selection information transfer is effected via a multi-frequency mode and/or a pulse selection mode and/or by binary characters.
