Parting off and chamfering the tube involved respective tools which adjust in planet form round the tube axis, the outer and inner chamfers produced by tool endfaces and the tube as parted and chamfered outside moved apart at its ends in axial alignment for the inside chamfering stage. The parting off tool (9) should be separate from the chamfering tool (10) and both are moved radially inwards at the same time but at different speeds so that parting ends with the termination of the outside chamfer. Only one tube end is moved axially for the inside chamfer so the tool is moved first axially into the fixed tube, without cutting. The moving tube end is run back onto the chamfering tool which for inside chamfer work is moved radially outwards. Finally the tube ends are diverged to let the tool (10) out. USE/ADVANTAGE - Metal cutting etc. tube stock. Exact outside and inside chamfers produced in quicker time without additional bending load on tool.
