Valve drive mechanism for lifting valve in IC engine - has plunger, cam and guide sleeve in which is inlet duct

The valve drive mechansim is for a lifting valve which has a closure spring (3) concentric with its shaft, esp as a load-changing valve for a an IC engine. It has a tapper (7) with a contact surface (10) for a cam (8) and sits on a fixed guide-sleeve (2) on which it moves axially. The guide-sleeve (2) wall (11) has at least one inlet-duct (13) for a pressurised fluid. The guide-sleeve (2) wall on the side facing the inlet-duct (13) is thinner than near the duct (13) which has a non-return valve (14). One end of the closure spring (3) rests on a shoulder (5) in the guide-sleeve (2) or on a cylinder head (6). USE/ADVANTAGE - The valve drive is smaller, especially lenghtwise, than before.
