PURPOSE: To display a three-dimensional image by alternately and continuously flickering plural pairs of light emitting rays in an illumination pannel and displaying a group with different images whenever the different group of a light emitting part flickers in an optical valve having individual image element on a surface. CONSTITUTION: Optical valve array 4 provided in parallel in front of the illumination pannel 1 having plural groups of vertical light emitting rays 2 and 3 forms the image by changing the transmissivity of the respective image elements 5 by transmissivity. Then, the groups 2 and 3 of the respective rays extremely quickly, alternately and continuously flickers so that faulse impression that the light emitting rays are 'jumping' forwards and backwards between the positions 2 and 3 occurs and some rays seems to be continuously flickering. The optical valve 4 is synchronized with the illumination pannel 1. When the ray 2 is flickering, for example, the part of the left eye image of a scene in a certain string 9 which is at the front and left side of the ray 2 is displayed and the right eye image of the scene is displayed in the string 9 which is at the front and right side of the ray 2. Therefore, an observer views a stereoscopic viewing image by depth false impression. Thus, the three- dimensional image is formed by a thin, small and light display device. |
