PURPOSE:To accurately measure the distance to an object by projecting a light beam which is generated by a light source upon the object through a projection lens and making the light incident on the position of a semiconductor position detecting element through a condenser lens. CONSTITUTION:The light beam which is emitted by the light source 1 is projected on the object 3 through the projection lens 2. The light beam which is reflected by the subject 3 is made incident on the specific position of the semiconductor detecting element(PSD) 5 through the condenser lens 4. Further, when the optical axis of the lens 4 is positioned in the center of the PSD 5, the light beam is made incident on the center position M of the PSD 5 on condition that the optical axis is positioned at the infinite distance of focal adjustment of a camera. Then this PSD 5 detects the distance to the subject. Therefore, the distance to the object can accurately be measured regardless of the arrangement of the subject and the way of holding the camera. |
