Process for dyeing human keratinous fibres, characterized in that there are applied on these fibres, in separate stages, a composition (A) containing a metal salt chosen from copper, iron, cobalt, magnesium, and silver salts, or mixtures thereof, in a cosmetically acceptable medium, and, before or after the application of the composition (A), a composition (B) containing, in a cosmetically acceptable medium, at least one dye corresponding to the formulae: <IMAGE> (I) <IMAGE> (II) in which formulae R1 denotes hydrogen or hydroxy, R2 and r3 denote hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy; R4 denotes hydrogen, hydroxy, alkoxy, alkyl, chlorine; R5 denotes hydrogen, chlorine, alkoxy, hydroxy; and R6, R7 and R8 denote hydrogen or hydroxy.
