PURPOSE:To control precisely the speed of an operating device which moves a magnetic head, by changing a width, with which an artificial linear region of the position signal is extracted, in accordance with the speed signal of the operating device. CONSTITUTION:The speed signal of an operating device is inputted to an inversion amplifier 41 and a non-inversion amplifier 42. The inversion amplifier 41 and the connection point between resistances R2 and R3 which set a reference level of the positive code of an upper limit of an artificial linear region are connected by a resistance R6. The non-inversion amplifier 42 and the connection point between resistances R4 and R5 which set a reference level of the negative code of a lower limit of the artificial linear region are connected by a resistance R7. A threshold value which determines width of extraction of the artificial linear region of a position signal G is varied in accordance with the speed signal of an operating device.
