PURPOSE:To form a protective film excellent in corrosion resistance, weatherability, and adhesive strength on the surface of steel material or concrete by forming a film composed of a mixture of glass and ceramics by means of thermal spraying on the surface of a building composed of steel, concrete, etc., or by thermally spraying a ceramic powder first and then thermally spraying a powder mixture of glass and ceramics. CONSTITUTION:A film composed of a mixture of glass and ceramics is formed on the surface of a building composed of steel, concrete, etc., as a base material 2 by simultaneously thermal spraying a glass powder 4 and a ceramic material other than glass, e.g. alumina 3 on the surface of the base material 2 by means of a spraying flame 5 from a plasma torch 1, or, a double thermally sprayed layer is formed by thermally spraying a powder of ceramics, such as alumina, first on the surface of the base material 2 and then thermally spraying a powder mixture of glass and ceramics, such as alumina. By this method, the corrosion- and weather-resisting protective film requiring no preheating of the base material 2 and excellent in adhesive strength can be formed at a low cost. |
