DIAGNOSTIC SALIVA TEST FOR DETECTING PERIODONTAL DISEASE of the Invention Method for detecting the presence of periodontal disease by contacting saliva from a patient suspected of having said disease condition with hydrogen peroxide and a buffered aqueous solution of 4-aminoanti-pyrine and a phenolic component and observing the color produced as an indication of the presence of periodontal disease, said phenolic component being (i) sodium 2-hydroxy-3,5-dichlorobenzene sulfonate; (ii) p-hydroxybenzoic acid; (iii) p-methoxyphenol; or (iv) 2,6-dichlorophenol.
