PURPOSE:To obtain a recording material excellent in preservability of recorded images as well as in color forming properties and raw preservability by using a specified salicylic acid derivative or a polyvalent metal salt thereof as a color reaction agent. CONSTITUTION:At least one salicylic acid derivative of formula I or polyvalent metal salt thereof is used as a color reaction agent. In formula I, Ar is substd. or unsubstd. phenyl, substd. or unsubstd. naphthyl, or substd. or unsubstd. aromatic heterocyclic ring group; R is an alkylene, cycloalkylene or aralkylene group which may have an ether linkage, ester linkage or amide linkage; X is hydrogen, an alkyl, cycloalkyl, nitro, halogen or the like; and m is an integer of 1 to 3. The polyvalent metal is preferably a divalent, trivalent or tetravalent metal, more particularly zinc, calcium, aluminum, magnesium, tin or iron. An excellent recording material can be thereby obtained which has a high developed color density and high preservability of recorded images and which is particularly free of fading of developed color areas or ground fogging caused by chemicals. |
