摘要 PURPOSE: To enable data communication in plural communication modes by selecting the communication mode of an optical transceiver corresponding to a focal distance adjusted by a converging means. CONSTITUTION: The converging means like a lens assembly 22 is mounted adjacently to a transceiver 14, and the beam emitted from the transceiver 14 or the beam received by the transceiver 14 adjusts the focal distance of the transceiver 14 defined as a distance for converting the beam in that distance. This focal distance setting corresponds to the communication mode of the transceiver 14 and in a bar code read mode, the focal distance of the transceiver 14 is adjusted by the assembly 22 so that the transceiver can read a bar code but in a modulation optical communication mode, the focal distance is adjusted by the assembly 22 so that the transceiver 14 can communicate through modulated light. Thus, the data communication can be performed in the plural communication modes.
