PICTURE PROCESSING SYSTEM AND METHOD OF THRESHOLDING ANALOG VIDEO SIGNAL

PURPOSE: To improve efficiency in digital image processing by forming an adaptive threshold level with which an analog video signal level is compared for each pixel position. CONSTITUTION: Raw video from a detector 10 is sent through a line 12 to a circuit 14 and a running average is calculated. A total sum node 40 adds an offset value from a memory 38 as the coefficient of total amount of noises to this running average similarly to a noise coefficient generated by the detector 10. Then, the adaptive threshold level is formed to be compared with the analog video signal level for each pixel position on a line 42. Then, an analog video signal can be exactly digitized.
