PURPOSE:To obtain an aqueous solution of silk fibroin, having characteristics, such as moderate moisture absorbence or retentiveness, excellent in preservation stability for a long period and suitable as bases for cosmetics, medicines, etc., by blending an aqueous solution of a water-soluble foreign protein with specific amounts of an antifungal preservative, etc. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution obtained by mixing an aqueous solution of silk fibroin dissolved in an aqueous medium with an aqueous solution of a predissolved water-soluble foreign protein in an amount of 0.5 to 10wt.% expressed in terms of solution concentration and an antifungal preservative (e.g. benzoic or sorbic acid) in an amount of 0.02 to 1wt.% expressed in terms of solution concentration and further, as necessary, a highly polar organic solvent (e.g. formamide or N,N-dimethylformamide). |
