PURPOSE:To prevent the drift of an optical axis at an element fixing part from occurring and to stabilize the output of light by providing an cylindrical shaped side surface to an element package, press-fitting it to a fixing member by a small pressing margin and press-fitting a fixing pipe to the fixing member by a large pressing margin. CONSTITUTION:The element package 12 where an optical semiconductor element 11 is fixed has an outside circumferential side surface of prescribed length and it is press-fitted to the spot facing part of the fixing member 14 by the small pressing margin. Besides, the fixing pipe 15 having a larger outside diameter than that of the outside circumferential side surface part of the element package 12 is press-fitted by the large pressing margin. Then, an optical fiber 5 is fixed to an optical fiber fixing member 6 and the optical fiber fixing member 6 is inserted to a housing 7 so that it is freely attached and detached. Since pressing force between the element package 12 and the fixing member 14 and the large pressing margin of the fixing pipe 15 are obtained in such a way, the axial drift of the element package 12 is prevented from occurring.
