PURPOSE:To decrease the difference of ghost eliminating performance between a GCR signal period and a video signal period by quicken the response characteristic for a period when a modulation signal is unchanged so as to trace the speed of an input carrier and slowing down the response characteristic for other period thereby reproducing a carrier hardly affected by a modulation signal. CONSTITUTION:A video signal detection means 106 of a television receiver is provided with a variable response carrier reproducing means 107. The variable response carrier reproducing means 107 quickens the response characteristic for a period such as vertical synchronization period of a video signal when a modulation signal is unchanged to trace the system with an input carrier, and slows down the response characteristic for other periods to attain the carrier reproduction hardly affected with the modulation signal. Since a ghost cancel reference signal(GCR signal) sent for the vertical blanking period after the vertical synchronization period of a composite video signal of a television broadcast and the video signal sent thereafter are detected by the similar detection characteristic, the difference of ghost elimination performance between the GCR signal period and the video signal period of a ghost eliminating device is decreased. |
