<p>PURPOSE: To effectively remove a halogenated arom. compd. by adding air and ammonia to a high-temp. waste gas contg. the halogenated arom. compd. and heat treating the waste gas at 300 to 700 deg.C in the presence of an iron oxide catalyst contg. a sulfate or the like. CONSTITUTION: The high-temp. waste gas contg. the halogenated arom. compd. discharged from a waste combustion apparatus is released through a pipeline 2. The pipeline 2 is provided with a device 3 which is a heat exchanger or supporting burner to adjust the temp. of the waste gases to 300 to 700 deg.C. The air and the ammonia are mixed with the waste gas through pipelines 4 and 5 and the mixture is treated with the iron oxide catalyst 6 contg. the sulfate or phosphoric acid or both and is then released from a pipeline 7. Combustion residues are removed by installing a scrubber 10 at need. If this method is adopted, the removal of polychlorinated phenols, polychlorinated dibenzodioxine or the like is made possible.</p> |
