There is disclosed and improved process for detecting a particular motile organism in a competitor immobilization test, wherein competitor flagella antibodies are added to either or both of the selective enrichment medium and/or a semisolid motility medium for the purpose of restricting the movement of motile competitors within either or both media. The addition of competitor flagella antibodies results in greater sensitivity of the competitor immobilization procedure and fewer false-negative results than had been achieved with motility procedures. |
