PURPOSE:To prepare a waste gas cleaning catalyst having a high cleaning function by carrying rare earth elements on a honeycomb carrier and drying it at a temperature lower than a specific temperature and a specific wind velocity in a cell. CONSTITUTION:A honeycomb carrier having a large number of cells to which an inorganic porous material adhere is immersed in a solution containing rare earth elements such as cerium, lanthanum, preseodymium, and then dried at <=100 deg.C, preferably 50-100 deg.C and 0.5-1.5m/second wind velocity in the cells. Further, it is sintered at >=300 deg.C and platinum palladium, rhodium, etc., are carried on it. By this method, rare earth elements are uniformly carried on the whole of an alumina layer and thus a waste gas cleaning catalyst having a high cleaning catalytic function is obtained. |
