PURPOSE: To detect a characteristics of a sheet material without moving a detector by providing an optical fiber flux which pours an infrared ray from a light source onto one surface of the sheet material with constant intervals, an optical fiber flux which transfers the light having transmitted the sheet material, and an optical detector. CONSTITUTION: The light from a light source 21 is intermitted at relatively high frequency by a modulation device 24, and, through an optical fiber 25, sent to a rotational multiplexer 27. Then the light intermitted with the multiplexer 27 is, through optical fiber fluxes 43A-43N and irradiation devices 53A-53N, projected almost vertically onto the adjoining surface of a sheet 9. Then the light having passed through the sheet 9 is, through photo detecting devices 55A-55N, optical fiber fluxes 57A-57N, a rotational multiplexer 72 and an optical fiber flux 73, sent to a detector 23. Then at the detector 23, a process is made, at measurement positions in various cross directions, so that a selected specific measurement amount of the sheet 9 is obtained. Thus, a characteristics of the sheet material is optically detected without moving a detector. |
