<p>The transporter belt (13) consists of interlocking slats supported by horizontal rods (16). The ends of the rods are fastened to links in two chains (17, 18) on each side of the track. Each slat can have be at a slight angle to its neighbours, to allow the belt to curve around bends in the tracks (14, 15). At the drive positions (12), the inside chain (18) is slack while the outside chain is taught and engaged with two sprocket wheels (28). The sprocket wheels are connected via gears (23 to 25) to the output shaft of a motor (21).
