Connector linking data peripheral to telephone line - uses gold-plated sprung wires as socket contacts and connection conductors

The plastics material housing (11) of the connector has metal pins (12) set into it in the necessary pattern for a telephone socket. Sprung wires (14) are resistance-welded to the heads of the appropriate pin, and trained into grooves (15) at the base of the housing. The outer ends of the wires are coated in a gold layer and bent round into the socket aperture (16) where they form the in-line contacts of the socket.
