A curved insert (12) of shield-structure for insertion in the mouths esp. of small children to prevent mouth-breathing or other bad habits or to correct the shape of bites, treat protruding teeth etc. has an attached externally accessible ring (16) and is made of transparent plastic. Density are applied to shore hardness, breaking stress, elasticity and other properties. The structure may be hardened by glass and/or carbon-fibre inserts. For childrens use, a flavouring agent is added and a cpd. slowly emitting fluorine for long-term dental benefit.
