Range finder for camera with zoom lens

A pair of optical sensors (52A,52B) is installed on the front of the body, their optical axes being different from that of the viewfinder. A line sensor assembly (S2) is provided with a pair of imaging reception areas to receive a pair of images of subject to be photographed via the a (52A, 52B). Pref., the line sensor assembly comprises many light receiving segments arranged in a row to extend in a direction crossing the optical axis of the sensors. Pref., the control diserables the imaging reception areas for macro-photography. The subject image is projected onto a monitor sensor (54) via the automatic focussing lens.
