PURPOSE: To obtain a polar and neutral lipid composition that contains phospholipids and neutral lipids in an specific relation of their concentrations, and has surface activity for artificial animal lungs. CONSTITUTION: This polar and neutral lipid composition, which is useful for treatment of dyspanea and treatment or protection of ulcer in the inside layer of the gastrointestinal tract, contains phospholipids of formula I (R<1> and R<2> are each an 8-22C saturated aliphatic substituent; R<3> is H or CH; X is H or COOH; R<4> is O or H2 ), e.g. phosphatidylcholide, and neutral lipids of formula II (R<5> and R<6> are each saturated or unsaturated aliphatic substituent) in higher concentration of the neutral lipids than that of phospholipids (preferably in a weight ratio of phospholipids to neutral lipids in the range of (1:2) to (1:3)), or otherwise unsaturated phospholipids of formula I, in which R<1> and R<2> are each an 8-22C unsaturated aliphatic substituent, sterols of formula III (which may have a double bond in the part of perhydrocyclopentanophenanthrene; R<5> is H, O or OH; R<6> -R<8> are each H or CH3 ; R<9> is a 1-4C aliphatic chain), and a triglyceride. |
